Here's the well known plateau Hoya de Antequera is located, with a population of 41.010 inhabitants; in its sorroundings there are important indications from the Bronze Age ( The Caves of Menga, Viera, and the Romeral ). The town is of Roman origin (Antikaria), in the VIII century, the muslims seized it (Antaquira) and later on it was conquered by the Catholic Kings. The XVI century was the largest economic peak for the town and the XVII and XVIII centiries, those of the greatest architectural thrust.
